I recently landed a Client Support Officer role at Compass Education. Being a newbie in the company and trying to figure things out, I tend to compare myself with other team mates to gauge where I'm at.
Comparison is great in the sense that it has given me a benchmark I can use to determine where I should go.
However, feelings of self-doubt and inadequacy may kick in. It can easily build up to the point where it holds me back from achieving what I'm fully capable of.
So how do I avoid unhealthy comparison and self-doubt from keeping me stuck?
I get into the habit of reminding myself how far I've come.
I reflect on my past versus present self, and acknowledge the growth and achievements that happened in between.
Rather than eliciting doubt and insecurity, this healthy form of comparison leaves me feeling accomplished, proud, and motivated.
