My business marketing plan

During the month of May 2021, I'm intensively working to launch my home cupcake business, 'Phoebe's Cupcake Treasures'. My main focus will be on social media marketing and managing the business' finances. The entire project is a massive and exciting challenge, since I'll be learning a ton of entrepreneurial skills and monetizing my baking passion. This blog post is one aspect of my project. Overview

Since the past month or so, working on my home cupcake business has become my side hustle. So far besides marketing my cupcakes to friends and family, I’ve been focusing more on the back-end of the business, such as product development. By the end of module 3 of the Praxis bootcamp, I aim to market my cupcakes on social media so the rest of the world knows about it. I’ve decided that the most effective and practical way for me to market my cupcake business is through word-of-mouth and organically on social media.

Word-of-mouth

I aim to have most of my business growth come from word-of-mouth. Because I’m offering a food product, taste is arguably the biggest factor that decides whether a customer will purchase my cupcakes. Since it’s impossible for me to let every customer taste my cupcakes before they buy, the next best way to signal that my cupcakes are worth buying is to have social proof.

Instagram and Facebook marketing

There are a few solid reasons why I believe promoting my products on Instagram and Facebook is an effective form of marketing. Posting images of my cupcakes is a great way to attract attention to my business as people love photos of good-looking food. Instagram is the best platform to do this as it’s heavy on the visuals.

Facebook is the other platform I would like to grow on, since people often turn to Facebook marketplace to discover small food businesses. People can also leave reviews and ratings on my business page, which will help with building social proof for my business.

What I also love about Facebook and Instagram is how convenient first-time customers can contact me (through Messenger, for example). The easier it is for customers to communicate with me, the more sales I’ll likely make.

Final thoughts

One more note to add is that with my limited finances, I aim to spend as little as possible on marketing. Therefore, I’ll focus on growing on Instagram and Facebook organically, instead of paying for ads. Please check out my business socials below!
